Mayun Ceremony in Pakistani Wedding

Mayun is another name for the Ubtan ceremony. In Pakistani weddings, it is one of the major ceremonies. It is discouraged for the bride to leave her house in the final week before the wedding. Until the wedding day, the bride and groom are not allowed to see each other. This ceremony takes place at the bride’s house.

Rituals in Mayun Ceremony

During this period, both the bride and groom should take time out for skincare and beautification. To enhance the bride's wedding glow, a paste of turmeric (haldi), essential oils, herbs and sandalwood is applied to her face, hands and feet. The bride and groom choose to wear yellow outfits during the ubtan ceremony. The bride is adorned with pretty and delicate floral jewellery. In the beginning, the mother of the bride applies turmeric paste to the bride. Afterward, seven married women apply the same paste to the bride. In order to make the bride feel special and happy, the bride's cousins and bride's friends stay with her. Ubtan paste is believed to be applied every day, until the wedding, to enhance the glow of the bride's skin.

Yellow is the color most preferred for Mayun ceremonies by brides. Salwar kameez in yellow shades are the preferred attire of most brides. It is the groom's family that provides the bride with the yellow dress and matching paranda and Khusa that she wears for this event. Fabricoz offers a majestic line of yellow-colored ethnic wear outfits adorned with beautiful thread work and embellishments. Although this ceremony is not celebrated on a grand scale by the groom, today they also prefer to dress up in yellow kurta pajamas or churidar kurtas to honor the occasion.
